supercheesegirl: (me diva princess)
We got a package from [livejournal.com profile] velvetwaltz yesterday with our xmas presents! She sent me a dream dictionary! I'm totally psyched, the definitions look way better, more detailed, than the ones I've been finding online. I've been wanting my own dream dictionary for a long time, so this was an awesome gift. Thank you!!

Jorn seemed to like his gift too--at least, I could hear him laughing about it all the way down the hall. I'm sure he'll tell you so himself, too.

Last night Dylan was very out of character--he wasn't feeling well, first of all, and when I came home he was sitting on the couch clicking channels. Pretty weird. I wanted to play nintendo but didn't want to be a jerk, so I suggested we watch a movie. Well, after Jorn and I got all pissed off had a friendly discussion about whether we should watch the Bob Odenkirk movie, I suggested a bunch of other things we could watch, none of which Dylan was interested in seeing. I'm picky when I'm sick too, so I tried to be understanding. We ended up settling on Dark City, which was surprisingly good. I had never seen it before, never even heard of it until Jorn bought it even though it was made in 1998. I liked it a lot, very creepy, very good. Then we all tried to help Dylan decide on a new ring tone for his cell phone and I fell asleep on the couch. (Why do so many of my evenings end with me falling asleep on the couch?)

Lost tonight! Lost tonight! I'm going shopping with Jorn's friends Erin and Jantine after work, for outfits/accessories to wear to the company holiday party this weekend, but we're supposedly going right after work and thus hopefully we'll be home in time for Lost. I put Jorn in charge of taping it if we're late, because I would much rather watch it right away tonight on tape and fast forward through the commercials than have to wait til people get around to putting it up for downloading. Sadly, Lost is one of the major things I've been looking forward to this week.

I'll have you know that I *could* be whining about the cold right now, but I'm not. See how good I am?

-I like that movie a lot, and desperately want to turn it into a roleplaying setting . . .

But would your character suddenly turn into someone else halfway through?

-Potentially. Or a character might suddenly be handled by another player. Kinda like the best way of roleplaying anterograde amnesia (like in Memento); make the player write down all the notes the character writes down, and every five minutes, swap in a new player, and hand him or her the notes.

-The trick would be fooling the players into thinking they're playing something other than Dark City. Like my bait-n-switch X-Men/Matrix crossover, where you let the players think their bald mentor is Professor X, and halfway through tell them he's actually Morpheus, and their "mutant" powers come from being able to manipulate the Matrix.

-Plus, you get to combine the big pink robot X-Men sentinels with the nasty gray tentacled Matrix sentinels!

My favorite things about Dark City were all the anachronisms in design/decor. The production designers on that film must have had a wonderful time.

dark city is one of my all time favorites, and i believe it's classified as "neo-film noir," whatever that means. i've always thought the movie was incredibly underrated. others think another movie was a rip off of it. i must say, the resemblance is striking. either way, i prefer dark city.

OMG I LOVE DARK CITY!!!

Dark City is my second favorite movie and I love, love, love, LOVE it! *huggles Dark City* It's brilliant. I always describe it as "like Matrix, but better." Plus, Mr. Hand and all them remind me so very much of the Gentlemen. :D
