books 2005: Enchantment, by Orson Scott Card

I finished Enchantment today. Excellent, excellent book. I know Ender's Game is the quintessential Card book to read, and I know I have to read it at some point, but this just looked more interesting to me. And it was. I have the thing about fairy tale retellings, you know, and this was an especially good one.

Card is one of my favorite authors - I've read the Ender's Game series multiple times, and I've read the Seventh Son/Hatrack River series. I haven't read Enchantment yet, I'll have to pick it up.

I liked it a heck of a lot. It's a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, and I thought it was very well done. I want to look into getting some more of his books.

I really, really liked that book. Unfortunately I then found out that I really, really dislike Orson Scott Card as a person, and I know that shouldn't color how I view his books, but it kinda does anyway. :P I hate when that happens.

Yeah, he lives in Greensboro, NC, and from what I remember people weren't too fond of him. He wasn't at all involved with the writing community there, and that alone made us mad, because who wouldn't want to be involved with us? :)
