The place to go for questions like these is generally http://status.livejournal.com/ - I believe that site is not connected with the lj clusters in any way, so it can stay up when everything else is down. It has a link to a list of known issues here: http://www.livejournal.com/support/

"Memories are temporarily disabled due to high database load. This is a temporary workaround and memories will be available again as soon as possible."

Since you've paid for your account, I encourage you to complain.

i haven't had a problem with the memories, but i was looking through old posts and came across my last one from oxford, where i used to live. it said there were 24 comments. then i clicked on it and there were no comments. and now it says there are no comments. i know there used to be comments. it made me very sad, but i have no idea what to do about it.
