yo yo yo. this morning i spent $78 to have some guy at the dodge dealership look at my car and then tell me that that creaking noise coming from the steering column isn't dangerous. i guess that's a pretty good price for reassurance; also, they put in some fluids or something for me, and the creaking noise didn't occur at all on the way home. then i unpacked my suitcase and other things from my travels, and put away all the books i got for my birthday, and as a special reward for getting so much done, i fell asleep and took a nap while i was trying to read a book. the book in question is the Confessions of St. Augustine, which i'm reading to try to properly frame that group of poems about him and his nonwife and his mom. the introduction, at least, was really interesting and had lots of good factual info that i needed to know for my poem (ie, augie lived monogamously with the unnamed woman for 14 years, till his mom insisted they split up so she could arrange a proper marriage for him with a richer girl, and both of them were unhappy about this because they were truly in love, and he never married that other girl anyway). but then the second half of the introduction was all about his philosophy, and Manicheanism and Neo-Platonism, and stuff i didn't understand really, or only sort of understood in the most basic way (ie, Manicheanism was really sort of dumb, and Neo-Platonism made a bit more sense (and all you philosophy majors out there, please don't comment with explanations of Neo-Platonism or something, because i'm way more interested in augustine's sex life than his philosophy.)). and that's why i fell asleep, i think, besides being tired from having to get up so early to have the car at the dealership by 7:45am.
