The weekend with my parents was really great. They arrived on Thursday, and we hung out during the afternoon and I cooked them dinner. They really liked it and were impressed by my cooking expertise and by the crockpot cake. Friday we went to the Isabella Stuart Gardner museum, which, as predicted, my mom totally loved. We even got the audio tour to listen to. Then we went to the Sam Adams brewery (which was shockingly easy to find, and did you know the Ruggles T stop was mere blocks from the Isabella Gardner? I didn't!). The brewery tour is free and includes beer at the end. It was totally fun. Then we did a bit of shopping at Filene's, then went out to Harvard Square for dinner at Grendel's Den and some more shopping (my mom loved Berk's and bought shoes there, and also loved Curious George). On the way home we stopped at Blockbuster and I bought The Incredibles and then when we got home we watched it.
Saturday we slept in, then got ourselves together and drove out to Lincoln. First we did the Gropius House, which I'd never been to before and which I thought my dad would like, and he really did. Then we went to the DeCordova Museum, less than a mile away, and Jorn and I really liked their current exhibit. My mom, on the other hand, could have lived her entire life without seeing it and never been sorry, but she said she didn't mind. She's not much for the modern art. We ordered some pizza when we got home, and then caught the 8:15 Aliens of the Deep 3D show at the aquarium IMAX. We all really liked it, except for the part with the cgi aliens at the end. Sunday was Easter, and we mostly just sat around, though we did get dressed up (even Jorn!) and went out for a nice dinner at Legal Sea Food in Kendall Square. We played a lot of Katamari Damacy. Our entire household is addicted. Even my parents played a bunch. (My mom would be considering getting a playstation, except that she needs to get a gamecube first because of the new zelda game coming out in a few months.) Monday, we were hoping to go out to Faneuil Hall, but it was raining so miserably we just sat around and played Katamari until it was time for them to leave for their flight. Then their flight was delayed and delayed and they were stuck at the airport for an extra four hours. I got a voicemail message from my mom this morning letting me know that they got in around 1am. Oh well.
Now I'm back at work. While my parents were languishing at the airport last night, I got dishes put away and tidied up the house and cut some pages for my book art class (cancelled this week for spring break, but I started on next week's stuff) and even shaved my legs. I don't seem to have missed much here at the office. I don't even have any emails from the Kipster. Tonight I'm going to take Jorn to Target so we can get him some workout-type pants and cheap gym sneakers so he won't have any excuse not to go to the gym.
