News from my life today:
I love my new Rainbow Brite t-shirt, but not as much as I *love* my new Bob Ross "Happy Trees" t-shirt (Target men's dept., $9.99, in case there are any other closet "Joy of Painting" fans out there).
I also love my Angel puppet. I haven't posted about him before, because he arrived Friday night when I was enmeshed in parental bonding, but he is so amazingly cute. His little coat and shirt button up, and his coat has real pockets, and his hair is appropriately messy, and he wears little boots. I am so happy I bought him.
Today I was determined to get to yoga class, since I was a slackzor on Tuesday and didn't go, but I got there and discovered that since it's spring break there are no recreation classes. Dammit. I should have thought of that myself. But while I was over there I stopped and picked up a chicken caesar wrap for myself. Now I'm going to find out if it's tasty.
Who knows of good bookstores in the Boston area? Preferably used bookstores, preferably T-accessible? I'm looking for a W.B. Yeats collected poems (preferably a old hardback smelly one) for my book class, but I'm also just generally looking for a decent bookstore in this town. Bookstores were smacking me in the face all over San Francisco, but I can't find one I really like here in Boston. (I've already been to Harvard Book Store, Grolier's, and Rodney's, all of which do have their charms but none of which either had what I needed or are calling out to be My Favorite Bookstore.)
::edit:: Also, and this was the reason I started this post to begin with and then I forgot to mention it, my friend Chris just arrived in Baghdad. I've known him since I was 12 and he was the dorky older guy at the pool with the big ears. It boggles my mind to think about him doing the things he's doing now. I'm really proud of him, but at the same time I just want him to come home and be okay.

"I got some rope up here but I do not think you would accept my help as I am just waiting here to kill you."
"That does put a damper on our relationship."
"I could give you my word as a Spaniard."
"No good, I've known to many Spaniards."
"Is there any way you'll trust me?"
"Nothing comes to mind."
"I swear on the soul of my father that you will reach the top alive."
"Throw me the rope."
hee!

Date: 2005-03-31 08:11 pm (UTC)From:I-"No, no, we'll wait until you're ready"
W-"Again, thank you."
I-"I do not mean to pry, but do you by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?"
W-"Do you always begin conversations this way?"
I-"My father was slaughtered by a six fingered man."
I-"He was a great sword-maker, my father. When the six-fingered man appeared and requested a special sword, my father took the job. He slaved a year before he was done"
W-"I've never seen it's equal"
I-"The six-fingered man returned and demanded it, but at one-tenth his promised price. My father refused. Without a word, the six-fingered man slashed him through the heart. I loved my father, so naturally I challenged his murderer to a duel. I failed. The six-fingered man left me alive, but he gave me these."
W-"How old were you?"
I-"I was eleven years old. When I was strong enough, I dedicated my life to the study of fencing, so the next time I see him, I will not fail. I will go up to the six-fingered man and I will say to him, 'Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.'"
W-"You've done nothing but study swordplay?"
I-"Well, more pursue than study lately. You see, I cannot find him. It's been 20 years and I'm starting to lose confidence. I just work for Vizzini to pay the bills. There's not a lot of money in revenge."
W-"Well I certainly hope you find him someday."
I-"Are you ready then?"
W-"Whether I am or not, you've been more than fair."
I-"You seem a decent fellow, I hate to kill you."
W-"You seem a decent fellow, I hate to die."
[ That seems a good stopping point. :-) And I think it's about right. I can probably get you through Vizzini's death without resorted to google, if you *really* want. ]
The used bookstore next to Diesel in Cambridge isn't my cup of tea, but certainly worth checking out. It's the only used bookstore I know in the area. [ a misfortune I should correcct ]

One day in the recent past The Amy was home in the middle of the day and I came home and flipped on "Joy of Painting." She had never heard of Bob Ross! I made her watch it so she would understand. The man is mesmorizing. I love him.
So yes, closet Joy of Paiting fan right here. ;) Rock on!
