Jorn got an email from an SU alum email group he's on, sent by Jason Milner (
jsmilner1), that described John's death. Here's what it said:
This past Saturday, John Vazquez passed away.
I was at the funeral on Wednesday and spoke to his brother Dave. John contracted pneumonia early last week, then caught an infection in his lungs. His condition worsened late last week and he was placed on life support. He then improved somewhat, until the infection moved into his brain and caused a cerebral hemmorage on Saturday, 3/26.
Funeral arrangements were made quickly, and little effort was made to get in touch with collegiate friends of his. I'm in the process now of trying to let whoever cared about John know. I've also let Susquehanna know.
John's obituary appeared in his local paper on Monday. It's on the Web at http://www.thedailyjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2005503280310.
According to Dave, the viewing Tuesday night was extremely well attended, with the line stretching out the door of the church, and a steady stream of people filing past for the entire two hour period. The service Wednesday morning was lovely, and the church was filled to capacity.
John touched all of us on this group, most assuredly. It is with sadness and a grasping sense of unfairness that I have to pass this news on to all of you.
I don't know why I didn't think to post that in my earlier post. Sorry to all of you. *hug*
