I'm backdating this entry because I finished the book on the Fung Wah bus to New York on Friday afternoon, so it should count for the book total for the month of April. It was a rather heartbreakingly sad novel, I thought. Girl grows up poor in a small village in Punjab, India, and by the time she's telling the story she's pregnant and living with a middle-aged banker in the middle of Iowa. Her story was really painful, really hopeful, but still made me sad.
