I just bought Firefly on dvd. I used two gift certificates, so I was justified in also getting two books off my wish list. My wish list is now only six pages long. I feel I've accomplished something.
WHEE! Firefly! Then you can play Firefly Trivia, and you'll have a much fuller understanding of Serenity! Even though I've heard that people who have never seen the show really enjoy the movie, so it wouldn't stop you from enjoying it, anyway. :)
Yay! But honestly, I don't know if I'm going to get to watch all of Firefly before I see Serenity on 5/26. I think what I'm going to do is go to the movie without trying to watch Firefly first, and then in June when Jorn's sister comes to visit us, watch Firefly with her. Because it's partly my fault she got sucked into Buffy and Angel, so I think we should do Firefly together. And then I will go see Serenity again when it comes out in September. Wheee!
I think what I'm going to do is go to the movie without trying to watch Firefly first,
Now that you mention it, I think I'm going to ask that you not try to watch it before the screening. My reasoning? -a) if you don't finish it before the movie, which is supposed to take place six months after the last episode, some things might be confusing (I have no idea, that's a Chrysta question, I guess). -b) if you don't watch it at all, I'm going to ask that you try to post a really detailed response to the movie (behind a cut to save some of us from spoilers, of course), because I am interested to know what people who have never seen the series pick up on in the movie. If that makes any sense. And of course, this isn't like "If you don't do this I will hate you forever." I'm just curious. :D
But even if you wait until June, you should be able to get in a round of Firefly trivia. I think the first round is going to start in June.
That makes excellent sense. I would not want to start watching Firefly and not be able to finish before the screening, I had thought of that. And I will definitely post my reactions, don't you worry--it's pretty much all the fault of my lj-friends that I'm going to the screening at all, so I kind of have to! :)
Yayayayayayayayayayayayayayay!! Firefly!! You're going to love it. I promise it's not as gut wrenching as Angel. Probably only because Joss didn't have time to properly set us up, tear out our hearts and stomp on them. But still- no wrenching!
I am not only proud that it's down to six pages but also proud of the diversity of items listed on said wish list. Crock pot cookbooks next to fantasy novels next to poetry next to romantic comedies. I have many interests. I need to shop more.
Oh, believe me, I'm right there with you on that one. Keeping track of the books I've been reading has been highly motivating, though. I'm almost through the stack on the floor, which means I'll have to buy more books because I never seem to want to read any of the books on the "to read" shelves. :)
