I think the first volume in this series was the best, really, but this one had some good stuff. This one had four long stories (instead of several shorter ones like in the first two volumes). I liked the second story (set in China, 1850s) and the last one (1990s Japan, India Cohen) better than the other two. The first story just made me sad because the poor girl had no idea what she was up against, so of course she lost. I don't like the Slayer stories when the poor girl gets killed horribly like a week after she's called as the Slayer. Those just make me sad. I realize that those stories have to go hand in hand with the ones where she triumphs, though. For as many "successful" Slayers as there were there must be at least half a dozen that failed miserably. I'm sure I'll buy the fourth volume in the series.
