so yesterday i saw a guy with no neck at the gym. not that he had worked out so much it looked like he had no neck--no, he genuinely had *no neck*. his head was between his shoulder blades, making him considerably shorter than everyone else in the room. he only had three fingers on one of his hands, so i think it must've been some sort of birth defect. but there he was, working on the machine i wanted to use. i wanted to say, hey neckless guy, can i work in with you there? but i thought that would be impolite. i mean, i always just wait till the other guy is done, no matter how long he takes.

we had pizza last night and saw/heard davidbowen and jillian play at new york pizza. it was cool. i wore my new skirt (!) and a pretty top and i actually put barrettes in my hair, so i was supercute. i hadn't felt supercute in a while.

i also went to ed mckay's today, because jorn said last time he was there, he saw that they had a copy of Red Sonja. and i really want to see this movie again--i haven't seen it since i was like eight years old--but they didn't have it. some other weirdo must've bought it. that didn't stop me from spending ten bucks on other crap, though. i got Rita Dove's most recent poetry collection, On The Bus With Rosa Parks. i saw the divine Ms. Dove read from this collection back in march at the AWP conference, and i've been dying for this book ever since, so i broke down and spent the $5.50 for it. also got a copy of the play Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel (i first saw this performed at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, so it means a lot to me) and it only cost $2.25, and i got a discount copy of Teh Mummy on video for $2.50, because jorn hasn't seen it yet. exciting. now he's sitting on the couch looking dejected because i'm here at his place but not spending time with him, so i'm going to go do that. spend time with jorn, i mean. :)

I'm bonded with Dancing at Lughnasa, too, oddly enough. I saw a production of it at LTM (Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg) that several people I knew were in. My dad & I went, and we both loved it, so we went to see it again. It's rare for my dad and I to both love something like that, so we bonded over it.
