Chelsea's been here almost a full week now, so I thought I'd type out all the fun and exciting things we've been doing.

Saturday: I went to the Otis house to give a walking tour, but no one showed up, so I was free to go with Jorn to meet Chelsea at the airport. Her flight was right on time. As soon as we got back to our apartment, Chelsea wanted to order pizza (apparently she doesn't get to order pizza and have it delivered very often at home). We mostly just hung out all afternoon, played some nintendo.

Sunday: Went to the MIT Museum. It's little, but it's only a few blocks from my house and they have some cool exhibits, plus Sunday was their free admission day this month. Jorn hadn't been before, either. He liked the robots the best; Chelsea liked the holograms. We got lunch at Thailand Cafe, a place Jorn goes often with his work buddies. Then Chelsea and I went downtown to meet up with the girls to see Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants. Chelsea giggled at an emotion-drenched moment and felt very bad about it, but she liked the movie overall. I did too. Back at home I made baked french toast for dinner, which Chelsea liked.

Monday: Went to Amy's for dinner. She cooked a delicious stir fry, and we had strawberry shortcake for dessert, then played a game of Scene It!, which Chelsea suggested but Jorn got the most right answers.

Tuesday: Bathing suit shopping trip #1: Cambridgeside Galleria. Newsflash: there aren't many stores that sell bathing suits at the Cambridgeside Galleria. We took this loss in stride, and Jorn met us for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, which Chelsea loved.

Wednesday: Kelly Link's and Steve Almond's short story reading at Harvard Book Store. So excellent. Chelsea said, and I agreed, that Kelly's story was funnier and really interesting, but Steve's reading was more compelling. Both of them are hella cool and really great writers. I bought Kelly's first short story collection, Stranger Things Happen, because I've been pimping it for two years to everyone I know and figured I should own a copy myself. I did not buy either of their new collections, which the reading was to promote, because both were in hardback and I don't have that kind of money right now. But I want them both eventually. Next we stopped by Newbury Comics, and then went to Hong Kong for dinner.

Thursday: Jorn had jury duty during the day, but they let him go way early so he got to spend the afternoon with Chelsea, walking around downtown. Then he brought her to see my office, and she and I embarked on bathing suit shopping trip #2: Downtown Crossing. We checked Filene's Basement, Filene's, and Macy's (on Filene's: Chelsea said, "Upstairs and downstairs are so different! It's like the Titanic!"). Got really discouraged. Went home and ate macaroni and cheese and watched the first episode of Firefly, which Chelsea was sure she'd hate but which she liked. Jorn also liked it. I said, I told you so.

Friday: Chelsea begged me not to go to work this morning but I kind of had to. Tonight we're going to see ImprovBoston, just a few blocks away from my apartment, in Inman Square. Chelsea wanted to see some sort of show, and this one involves puppets.

Next week: tune in for more adventures in bathing suit shopping, the aquarium, Portsmouth, Salem, Firefly watching, and moviegoing.

PS. I am proving this week that I would have been an excellent big sister.

Silly peoples thinking they won't like Firefly. I'm glad you finally relented and bought it yourself.

Sounds like you're having a great visit! So much fun stuff, I want to come and visit you. :)

I bought it almost a month ago, but I was saving it to watch with Chelsea. I'm glad she's liking it so far!

The fun and excitement of Boston never end... (Periodically Chelsea will just exclaim, "This is the coolest thing ever!!" on a random street corner, and we're like, "Traffic is the coolest thing? Homeless guys? What?" but we know what she means.)

:)

Not Salem-you, Salem-witch-stuff. Unless you want to give us a tour. :) We might go this Sunday or might go next Sunday, depending.

Wish I could, I actually like playing tour guide. However this Sunday I'm painting the bathroom and next Sunday I'll be in Minneapolis.

I can give you some tips though;
*The Witch Village has a discount if you buy a joint ticket for both of their museums. The first is a wax museum that you're free to roam and you can do a stone etching. The second is a guided tour explaining some of the truth about witches.
*If you go to the PEM, I highly reccomend spending the extra$ to tour the Chinese House.
*If you see people walking around in period clothing, follow them. They'll be on their way to 'arrest' Bridget Bishop. You can follow them back to the 'court house' and participate in the trial. (It's really, really fun.)
