I didn't go to yoga yesterday, so I went today instead. Gene teaches on Thursdays and I love Gene, but Ray teaches on Fridays. I'd never tried Ray's class before, so it was good that I did, but I didn't like it at all. There was some challenge to it but I'd rather be up and moving around, as in Gene's vinyasa yoga class, than slowly freezing my butt off in Ray's hatha class. Gene's class also feels like it has some structure to it: we always do the same things, and while that can be restrictive at least I always know where we are in the sequence and what's coming next and such. And sometimes he does some different things, but still he always follows standing poses with balance, and then seated poses, and then inverted poses, so that even when we're doing totally different standing poses from the norm I still know what's next. From the hatha classes I've taken (not just this one but also David's last spring) the structure was more something that the instructor figured out as he went. I liked David a lot better than Ray, too. Ray's class was boring. Well, I just won't go again.
But that's not the reason for the subject line. After yoga, instead of feeling all energized and great like I do after Gene's class, I felt exhausted, so I decided to treat myself to a drink and a cookie with my lunch. But the caf didn't have any nantucket nectars today (I was craving the Half & Half specifically), so I just grabbed a Pepsi Twist. Bad, bad idea. Now I'm completely wired, with my eyes wide open and my arms feeling all shaky and liquid crack running through my veins. I just can't handle caffeine the way I used to. More and more I look at sodas and feel like they're filthy chemical concoctions. I think I'm going to try going off of soda completely--I don't drink it often, but when I do I don't really like how it makes me feel. I haven't been ingesting healthy things at all today; besides the pepsi, I also had Captain Crack With Crack Berries for breakfast. I just want to get a big ol' salad for dinner, some bread maybe, and a nice peach for dessert. Ugh, I feel gross.
FYI: I know I said I was going to go to Manray tonight. Well, I'm not going to go. Wednesday was a great night, and I tend to like Wednesdays better anyway, so I'll just let that be my last Manray experience. Tonight I'm going to go see Die You Zombie Bastards at midnight at the Coolidge with Jorno and Jantine and hopefully Sara(h). (Because really, how often does one get to see Die You Zombie Bastards in the theater? Also, it apparently features a character named Olaf The Cheese Demon. I must investigate.) I hope everyone has an excellent time at the club. *kisses*

Date: 2005-07-29 07:37 pm (UTC)From:I keep going back and forth about trying a yoga class (right now I just do it at home). I think I would like Gene's class better, too. I like structure.

Date: 2005-07-29 08:50 pm (UTC)From:Do you do your yoga to videos? I like having a class because if I pay for it, then I feel much more obligated to actually go. :) You should try a class sometime if you can, just to know if you might like it. Are you still doing the dance class? That sounded like fun!
