Can I just say that I am very, very pleased by the new 100 icons limit. I've added some new ones I never had room for before, and I brought back some older ones I got rid of because I didn't have enough room. Now I'm going shopping for more. :)

do we all get 100 icons now? or do you still have to buy them?

I haven't heard anything official: I've heard that it's for all paid users, and I've heard that you only get the 100 if you've already paid for the 50 upgrade. The second one makes more sense, I think.
