I really loved the Miyazaki movie, so I've been wanting to read the book. It was very different, but really good. I think I'd like to read it again sometime. It was interesting how Miyazaki brought in the whole war aspect, which wasn't really present in the book at all, and made war the villain instead of the Witch of the Waste. The Witch, and her fire demon, were the definite villains until the very end of the book, but the Witch was neutralized fairly early on in the movie. Kind of a weird decision, I think.

i actually just read it! now i know where the war idea came from, although i don't really understand how it got smashed into a "howl's moving castle" film. shrug. are you coming to T.T.'s tonight? even if you aren't, i guess jorn will be there, so i'll get it to you somehow today.

Oooh, you = super. I will not be at T.T.'s tonight, I don't think. Well, maybe. I kind of feel like I want to just be at home for a while after my 12+ hours of airport goodness yesterday. Jorn will be there, though, even if I don't make it.

I have to say, I really love that icon. My friend John Paul got to meet Amy Acker at a editing awards ceremony a couple years ago, and I was very jealous. Fred is the coolest!
