I think I mentioned that Jorn got me the Angel soundtrack for my birthday. Right? I've been listening to it today, and I can't stop playing the last track, "A Place Called Home" by Kim Richey. It's such a pretty song, and it's been making me sad because it's Fred's song, the song they played during the flashback to her leaving her parents' house and going out into the world. But I can't stop playing it.

Wednesday night I went to a reading by Chris Roberts of his book Heavy Words, Lightly Thrown at the Harvard Book Store. I met up with Jorn and Heather there. It was really good. I would like to get the book when/if it comes out in paperback. Last night I went to a reading by Cynthia Ozick of her novel, Heir to the Glimmering World. I went by myself. What an amazing reading! She has such class, such talent. She's an excellent writer--clearly brilliant and a master of what she does--and hearing her read was a privilege. I bought a paperback copy of the book and had her sign it. (And for those of you out there who are MC Paul Barman fans: no she didn't, she's an old lady!!)

Later last night, I made Jorn watch the premiere of Reunion with me. I'm planning to catch the premieres of several of the new fall shows to see if any of them are worth watching and/or taping. Jorn wouldn't watch Reunion again, because he said the writing's terrible, and I can see that but the acting's not bad, the premise is intriguing, and I'm interested in seeing how the story unfolds. I may watch it again next week, but I don't know if I'll get sucked into this one the way I'm sucked into other shows. Watching Lost is going to be a big priority this season, and I want to see how Top Model goes this time around, especially since they ditched Janice as a judge and picked up Twiggy instead.

I stopped at the Staples in Harvard Square (I didn't even know there WAS a Staples in Harvard Square till today! Is there a Target there somewhere that I'm missing?) and got myself hanging file folders for my new file cabinet at home. The ugly green ones were cheaper, but I splurged and got purple ones instead. It's my damn file cabinet, after all. Is it weird of me to be excited about going home to do some filing?

Things I'd like to do this weekend:
- put file cabinet together, unpack files
- put computer together
- make mp3 cd for Chris and mail!!
- clean the kitchen, hang mug hooks (and mugs on them), clean out drawers in pantry and fill with towels, unpack the rest of the kitchen stuff
- clean the bathroom!
- do laundry (at least the darks)
- put down contact paper on bedroom closet floor and shelf
- unpack clothes into closet
- move trunk of winter clothes to hall closet

Things I'd like Jorn to do this weekend:
- get a new dresser, bring it home, put it in the bedroom, and put clothes in it

Hey Kris: Call me about tomorrow, okay? We don't have internet at the new apartment yet, so I won't be able to check email once I leave work today. Need to know about rides and such.

I have the dresser, we could drop it by on Sunday or possibly saturday afternoon. I could also lend him my belt sander if needed. Let me know! I'm sorry i've been dragging my feet on this. :-)

Not a big deal, you've been crazybusy! I won't be around on Saturday afternoon but Jorn might be. I'll tell him to call you tonight. And if you think a sander is necessary, he'd have to borrow yours 'cause we don't have one. :)

I want to cook you and T a nice dinner to say thanks for all the help. Would it be better for you to do it before your SU weekend, or after? Also I haven't seen you in ages and I miss you!!

Huh. I personally try to avoid this sort of thing, realizing how easily I get addicted to shows. This sounds like "I'm planning to try some of the new batch of heroin, crack, opium and meth this week to see if I want to do any of them again."

I know, I know. But I know I'll be too busy this fall to keep up with any show I'm not totally invested in, so I know I won't get addicted unless it's really worth it. I'll keep up with Lost and Top Model (so sad, to be so invested in that crap), but some of the new stuff looks at least palatable so I want to check it out.

Speaking of shows: I will be over tonight. There, I told you, now I can't back out.

I didn't love or hate Reunion. It was ok and some parts were definitely interesting, plus Alexa Davalos (Gwen on Angel)! But I don't feel compelled to watch it again next week. I'd watch it if it was on and I happened to not be doing anything else.

Oh! That's where I'd seen her before!!

Not that I know of, but I have heard that Target is moving into Downtown Crossing where Filines is now that Macy's has bought them.

Macy's bought Filene's?? WHAT??? My little world is shattered...

Well, at least the Basement is going to stay. That's mostly what I was worried about.

Date: 2005-09-12 03:56 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] mrpet.livejournal.com
That was actually sold quite a while ago.

Yeah, that's what it said. I knew the Basement was a separate entity from Filene's itself but I didn't realize how separate.
