i always forget how much stuff there is to do before i go on a road trip. and from greensboro, pretty much everything is a road trip.
yesterday morning i got up early and went to walmart. i got all kinds of useful things, like enough saline solution for my contacts to get me through the next month and new pantyhose for suzie's wedding and spaghetti sauce and pentel G2 gel pen refills. when i paid for it, the saline rung up as costing $2.84 each, but i was sure the sign by the saline said $2.70. so the cashier checked, and i was right. of course it's only 14 cents each, but when you're buying three bottles, that's almost half a load of laundry. and then i also had a coupon for 60 cents off the spaghetti sauce, so that was exciting, and i think the cashier wanted to hit me. then i went and got my hair trimmed, and i feel much better about my head now--the dead ends were really getting to me. i dropped off my fun velvety thrift store dress at the dry cleaners b/c it smelled like thrift store no matter how much febreze i dumped on it, and i found rockin' spiderman christmas wrapping paper at the dollar store. it was a productive morning.
last night after workshop i went to the bar (of course), and had a really good time talking to stuart. he talked about poets and jobs and writing and teaching and things like that. it's always good to listen to stuart talk, and he likes talking so much. :) anyway, after the bar rhett and ezra went back to ezra's place to play legos (ezra's whole spare room is full of legos!) and i went home to get stuff done. i cleaned. i did laundry. i hung the laundry up. i put stuff away, i did dishes, i started packing. i packed two of the three dresses that i'm debating wearing to suzie's wedding (the third one is at the dry cleaners). i packed shoes and a purse and the new pantyhose and my camera and makeup. i know jorn is going to get grumpy, but i wear makeup like twice a year, and this is important. so i got to bed late and then had to get up early to shave, because if i'm going to wear pantyhose and makeup and a nice dress i might as well be hairless too. so that took *forever*, but hey, i'm done for the next month or so now.
and i have some poems to give to fred for conference next week--it's not like i did actual work on these poems lately, but they're revisions of things from last semester that no one has seen yet, and i really want these poems to be done so i don't have to think about them anymore, but i can tell there are issues that need clearing up. i can count on fred to find every single problem, even the ones i don't know about.
things to do today (before we leave tomorrow):
-work at CASA till 2:30--read essays for feminist theory class next week, make copies of things for the file cabinet
-go home, get changed, go to salsa dance class, lift weights if there's time
-go home, get changed, call jorn. go out, pick up dress from dry cleaners (before they close at 7pm), stop at blockbuster to return video and pick up our copy of monsters inc. stop at the dollar store maybe. see if jorn wants to get a new cd player car adapter thing for the road trip tomorrow, and if so, get one. get gas.
-go home to my apt, bring junk in from the car, get suitcase and gift and laundry (hi mom!) and take that out to the car.
-go to jorn's, pack lunch for tomorrow, maybe watch a fun movie or something, hopefully do my nails, sleep and get up early tomorrow.
