supercheesegirl: (green me)
The housewarming party went smashingly well, I thought. Our apartment becomes significantly warmer when it holds 30 people (we're considering inviting everyone back to spend the night until we get our heat working). The apartment itself looked wonderful (but thank goodness no one wanted to see the pantry), and food was not a problem. At all. I had chips and salsa and cookies and cheese and crackers and pepperoni and dipping mustard and hershey kisses and pumpkin pie and fresh applesauce (too sweet, need to look into that) and crabbies, and people brought a veggie tray and apple pie and vegan krispie treats and tea cookies and i don't even know what else. There was plenty of food. There's still plenty of food. There were also plenty of beverages: we had at least two cases of beer, plus vanilla vodka and twisted smirnoffs and hard cider and cider warmed up on the stove and spiked with butterscotch schnapps, and people brought even more beer and cream chai liqueur (which I can't *wait* to try, Bey!) and bottles of vodka and wine and mead, and lots more beer. It seemed like every person brought a six pack of beer, had one, and left the rest in our fridge. We have positive gallons of beer. We've already taken some of it to Columbia House and pawned it off on them, and we'll probably do that again later this week. I don't even like beer. At least we've got plenty of it in case of any beer emergencies.

As for the party itself, I remembered my least favorite thing about hosting parties: that I don't get to talk significantly with anybody. I chatted a bit with a lot of people but didn't chat a lot with anyone, and that made me sad because there were a lot of people there whom I really wanted to chat with. Oh well. I also got a bit of a headache about halfway through that made me feel a little nauseated, but I had an advil and sat down and drank some water (not beer) and eventually caught my second wind, right in time to start cleaning up. Everyone seemed to have a really good time, I thought, even the people who didn't really know anyone when they arrived, like Kristine and George (my landlord). George actually got involved with some anagrammatizing of names in the kitchen with EE and Benjie and Susanna (apparently, from "roxanne halpine" you can get "exile porn, hanna!"). The anagrams are all still on our markerboard. And people I wasn't expecting made it, too, like Ebeth and Daniel, and Molly and MyraHope, so that made me happy. I got to meet Erin's man Pete, who doesn't seem near as villainous as he is made out to be. Overall it was a good time.

Amy, when you and T are feeling better, I want to have you over for dinner (and beer). Okay? This weekend, maybe? It'll be like a little housewarming party just for you guys. :)

The rest of the weekend was as wonderful as we were expecting and hoping it would be. Saturday morning Jorn and I slept till almost noon. Eventually we got up, tidied up a little bit, played some nintendo and relaxed. We caught a 5:45 showing of The Corpse Bride at the Somerville Theater, and then I dropped Jorn off at the Acid Mothers Temple show and went to the laundromat. We had tons and tons of laundry to wash. It's all clean now. When I got home, I finished folding everything and then killed some vampires in the BtVS gamecube game. Yay.

Sunday, we slept till 11:00. So lovely. Then we drove out to the Burlington Mall. I had promised Jorn a Cookie Monster from Build-A-Bear, so we picked one out, and also picked out some new surprises for someone special, too. I also bought new boots! They are black calf-high boots that both zip and lace up. They're not quite as clunky as I'd wanted, but they look awesome and they are going to be so comfortable I can't even believe it. They're perfect and I love them. I also picked up new wings from Spencer's, and a Lego pirate keychain from the Lego store, and a copy of We <3 Katamari! I played it last night for the first time and adored it. The campfire level is my very favorite so far.

So after buying the boots, we drove home, and I actually sat in my apartment and worked on homework for a few hours. This is I think the first time I could just sit on the couch and work on my homework and not have anything to worry about or run out and do on a Sunday night. It was awesome. Then Jorn ordered Chinese food and I played Katamari and it was a great night.

Now that the housewarming party is over, I have no plans for anything except for a Halloween party Friday and the hockey game with Dann on Wednesday. I'm excited about that. Otherwise my calendar is pretty clear, I think. I sent out some emails to people to see about getting together like we've been talking about doing for ages. I'm really hoping life is going to settle down a bit now and Jorn and I can do things like figure out our finances and make holiday travel plans and, you know, have a date sometime. Yay for normal life.

Thank you, sweetheart. I'm still feeling crappy, but, alas, i'm at work anyhow.

We'd love to take you up on it - how about Sunday evening? I work till 6:30, but i can come over with T right after.

I'm also so glad you got katamari! Watch with the campfire stage, though... the woodpiles get bigger and bigger... i still haven't beaten the biggest campfire level yet. Yuck!

So should we plan on around 7pm for Sunday? What should I make? :)

I just loved the campfire stage. I accidentally rolled right into the river and got yelled at big time, and I loved how when you do make the campfire everyone gathers around it and looks all happy. :)

Oh, hey--I just checked with Jorn, and he wants to go to the Rasputina show on Sunday night. Possible to move dinner to Saturday or Monday?

Monday is halloween, saturday t has friends in town. The next night we're both free is ....Wednesday, nov 2? holy crap. Then we're gone to vt for a long weekend. No rest for the weary, it seems. I'll come over and visit sooner, but dinner with the both of us looks like a scheduling nightmare. bummer.

Eek, you're right about Halloween. I'm getting my crown done that day and likely won't feel like eating anything but soup (though I could make Dann's tomato bisque!). Let's go with Wednesday 11/2, okay? I'll check with Jorn to make sure. And then we can all watch ANTM and Lost. :)

You're the second person to mention Katamari on my FList today! (The other was my little, Brooke).

Congratulations! We've been going through our moving sagas together. You've been a better poster about it that me and it's been fun keeping up with your progress. Wonderful your party went so well.

Wooh, Wooh, Wooh for normal life.

Thanks! There are still some significant things that need to be done (like cleaning all those extra boxes out of the pantry again) but it feels so nice to be done with the major moving. I can't even believe how nice it feels to just settle in to a normal routine. :)
