I watched a lot of movies over Thanksgiving weekend. We watched parts of Big and Finding Nemo on Thanksgiving Day, and watched Barbarella, Immortal Beloved, and Treasure of the Sierra Madre over the rest of the weekend. We saw Treasure of the Sierra Madre at the Brattle and the rest at home (or at Amy's home). Barbarella was awesome. Immortal Beloved is kind of sticking with me--I keep thinking about it. But it was good. I think maybe I need a Barbarella icon. I want to live in a fur-lined spaceship.

Immortal Beloved is the one about Beethoven, right? If so, I liked it as well, although I am not too fond of the lovestory. And the accents. But I did love the way the included Beethoven's music - the visualisation of the ninth symphony always makes me cry.

Barbarella! Did you know that was considered porn when it was first made? Only the most scandalous places played it :) Now it is a hoot and a half. I just howled the first time I heard there was a group named Duran Duran. No one had any idea why I found that so funny.

I loved that all of Ugo Tognazzi's dialogue is so obviously dubbed except the one time he is yelling for her in this thick Italian accent, "Barbaaaareya!"

There's also a group named Matmos.
