things have been going so very nicely lately. after my monday successes at the mall, i stayed home almost all day tuesday. élan and i went out for lunch to Qdoba, which is just like subway only with burritos. it's great for businesspeople who need a quick lunch break, but otherwise, dood, don't go there, it's scary. but other than that, i stayed home in my pajamas, didn't shower, read a bunch of Spivak, and did some poem work. not as much as i need to, of course, but i've gotten some good revisions done lately, at least, and i have a poem up for workshop today. AND i wrapped up in a blanket and had a cup of tea and watched Mulan with my roommate. i freakin' love that movie.
but yeah, it was pretty much the best fall break i've ever had. except, of course, fall break my senior year in college, which was special for other reasons.
yesterday was great because i was going to wake up early and go to the gym, but after snoozing the alarm a bunch of times, i looked out the window and it was really wet and nasty and cold out, and my bed was seriously the only warm thing in my apartment. so i got a bowl of cereal, since i was awake anyway, and then read sharon olds's new book (which i have thanks to the wonders of fred chappell), and then when i was done reading, i went back to sleep. ah. when i woke up, i knew the perfect ending to this poem that's been sitting around for like a year. and it's seriously *the* right ending. i'm psyched.
yesterday's feminism class was really good, too--we talked about spivak, and everyone was just as confused as i was, and i feel like i contributed positively to the discussion. i'm not usually good at talking in class, so that was uplifting. plus i was the only person to hand in a bunch of assignments early, thanks to my rockin' productively wonderful fall break.
last night jorn and i watched Star Trek Enterprise, and of course it wasn't as exciting as it could've been. and the poor little dog got sick, but at least he didn't die. i'm happy that there's a dog on Star Trek now, i think that's cool. but it's not cool that in the commercials, they hype a big sexy scene with T'Pol (the sexy vulcan science officer) and one of her crewmates, and then the actual scene is either anticlimactic or a dream sequence. they've done this with Tripp (the chief engineer), the british guy weapons officer, and now last night the Captain. i mean, the woman is obviously sexy, but they don't need to have every freakin' male member of the crew fantasizing about her. it would be a nice twist now if she got together with Hoshi (the other main female character).
got a package from mr. dannbrown last night, and thankfully jorn had saved the track listing for the cd because i had completely missed it when it was posted in dann's journal. thanks, broseph.
i might not be posting again for a few days--tonight i have to pack, and tomorrow we're leaving at noon to drive to selinsgrove. i might get to see janel too! i'm so excited. :) :) we'll be back sunday night!
