Dammit, for some reason my Prince of Persia game is frozen. I just got to the astral observatory, and to continue on in the game, I stand on a platform and Farah pulls a switch and the platform rises into the air. The platform won't rise. I have reset the game and tried several times, but it doesn't work. The game goes into the cut scene where I'm supposed to see the platform rising, but it just sits there. I can see Farah pulling the switch. There's no reason for it to do this. Argh.

I have a saved game that's saved at 28 percent completed, in the zoo. I'm considering starting from there. Which is annoying, but since I just played all those levels, I'm sure to do it quickly. Sigh.

I played Guitar Hero for a while and got five stars on several of the bonus songs. On the first try, even.

Found here:

Q: In the observatory, Farah won't raise the stairs! What do I do?
A: This is a glitch in the game, and happens very rarely. Try
restarting. If that doesn't work, try restarting from an earlier save.
If that doesn't work, I'd hate to be you, because you'll probably be
starting over from the beginning.

Yuck. That's pretty stinky. :-(

Yeah. I started over from the earlier save point at 28 percent, got it to just over 50 percent before I stopped a little while ago. Unfortunately, that old save game must've been somebody else's (I can tell from the way things were set up when it started that it wasn't my game), and I think the other person missed some power-ups earlier on. Oh well. When I was looking for solutions to the observatory glitch (good job, btw, on finding the problem in a walkthrough when you've never even played the game), I discovered an interesting cheat that unlocks the original Prince of Persia game, which I'd never even known was on there. So that's pretty awesome, at least.

ooh, I wanna see that original game!

Totally. I had never heard of it before Sands of Time came out, but it looks from the animation to be SNES-era, possibly late NES era.

Whoa! You gotta give me that cheat!! Yeah, I knew there was a SNES game, but I didn't know you could access it from PoP SoT! Squee, indeed!

Apparently there are a few ways to get to it. The one I used is an unlock point more than 30 percent into the game, so you might not want to use that one. Check IGN's page about SoT, they have several ways listed in their cheats section.

Hey, the prince never says his name does he? I mean, at the end of PoP SoT I think he says "just call me ...._____." But isn't that just to weird-out Farah because she knows that name or something?

I looked up something about glitches in Warrior Withing (sand won't work) on Wikipedia and it said that in #2 he still is unnamed, but I don't remember if it's true or not... if it is, we should name him. Mr. Hunky-Prince-Guy? Oh, and I really hated Farah in PoP SoT (at first), but she returns in The Two Thrones...kinda cool. You HAVE to play this game, it's super awesome! When I beat it I could send it to you or something so you don't have to buy a copy... if you want.

I think he's just always the Prince--he does just say that to make her believe the story is true. Yeah, I spend a ton of time making fun of Farrah in this game: "I'll pull the lever" (yeah, pull my lever, baby), "The water is going down" (just like you will be later on, bitch). But I do kind of like her. And the Prince actually does get some eventually.

You don't think I need to play Warrior Within before Two Thrones for story continuity?

I just ordered a game called Sphinx and The Mummy (or something) that I found listed in IGN's "if you liked this game you also might like" section. It sounded really cool, I'll let you know how it is.

Did you get the glitches fixed, by the way?

Date: 2006-06-09 12:08 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] unique-unknown.livejournal.com
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Stupid glitches!!!

And no, I don't think you have to play Warrior Within before Two Thrones, #1: because the glitches have caused me to go straight to the third and I'm doing fine, no problem following the story. and #2: Warrior Within is more of a fighting game, I've read a lot of complaints online about the lack of puzzles. I'm only going to play it because the story sounds interesting... ya know, once I fix the glitch.

Oh yeah, and Warrior Within is really dark and scary. It has been really hard to play, I think I just might be a braver person since playing it. I think the game maker-people thought they'd make some changes, and then all the changes sucked. But they got it right again in Two Thrones...\m/

You know, a lot of stars in Mario 64 I get like that - I'll try to get one over and over and over and over (and over and over) and give up and go do some other stuff in the game and then go back way later and get something on the first try and wonder why I couldn't do that earlier.

The wing cap star and the P-wing star are like that for me.
