Lauren wants to go dancing while they're here in Boston this weekend. I rarely go dancing, and even when I do, my kind of clubs aren't her style. She likes oldies and pop stuff they play on the radio. Does anybody have any suggestions? I was thinking the Avalon, but I looked at their regular Saturday DJ's website and his style seems pretty techno-y. If all else fails I know Toast has 80s night on Saturdays, but I think she'd be pissy at me if I took her to a lesbian bar. I'm looking at clubs on citysearch but it's hard to tell which ones are live music and which are bars and which are good for dancing. Help a girl out, y'all.

For future reference:
Avalon (club website and citysearch profile)
Redline
Phoenix Landing
Toast
The Big Easy (club website and citysearch profile)
The Liquor Store
An Tua Nua
I'm leaning away from Avalon and Toast now. I'm thinking of two options: 1) we T downtown and try The Big Easy and/or The Liquor Store (neither of which I've heard of before but both of which seem to have the kind of atmosphere Laur might like) and then get a taxi home, or 2) we start at the Phoenix Landing in Central, see how we like it there, and if we get bored head to Redline in Harvard Square, from which we can walk home. Dann said he liked Redline, which is a point in its favor for me. I know the Phoenix gets really really crowded, though, so that might not be as much fun. If we're going to go for crowded we might as well go out with a bang and try the downtown clubs on Boylston Place.
