vacation was good. good shopping on friday--the best deal was my new winter coat, long, wool (warm for next winter in boston when i'll really need it)--a Jones New York from Macy's, originally $345, but after the sales and a coupon and my mom opening a Macy's charge for an additional 15% off, we got it for around $140. woohoo!
anyway, i drove back yesterday. left my parents' house at 9:30am--at 10:15, i was westbound on route 78 (for those of you who know the area) and got held up by an apparently huge accident. for TWO HOURS. seriously, i went four miles in two hours, it was awful. especially knowing that i had an eight-hour ride ahead of me once i got going again. and after that, i kept hitting traffic, and i didn't roll in to greensboro till 9:30pm. i was so tired. élan was sweet and made me a cup of tea. and i *so* didn't want to get back in the car again, so jorn was the sweetest ever and walked over to my house and then drove me back to his place so i wouldn't have to drive.
saw a bit of the Ice Wars thing on saturday night--basically, ice skaters from the US vs. skaters from around the world, doing the usual short program/long program to music thing. one of the russian skaters did a program to a song by shakira, and when the music first came on, i was all excited, because it was one of her earlier songs off of "Donde éstan las Ladrones?" (which was all in spanish and way better than anything she's doing in english now). but when she started singing, it was in english! so i'm guessing she released the song in translation for the US. and it is not anywhere near as good in english. the song also has some arabic sections, which weren't changed, but all the spanish was in english. the song title is Ojos Asi -- go download it and listen to it, and then you'll know how much it would suck in english. (it was kind of neat that the russian chick skated to it, though).
