I don't know that I liked this book. I kept waiting for him to stop going on about the obscure occult stuff and get to the story, but by the time I realized that the story was heavily based on the occult stuff it was too late to stop reading. I guess I was thinking it would be a smarter, saavier DaVinci Code kind of adventure, but it was several levels above what I was expecting (and above what I wanted to tackle for vacation reading). And I think if I had read it at home I would've gotten sick of looking crap up. So--I'm glad I finished it, but I want something lighter and fluffier next time. This was not a fluffy book. I think I just couldn't believe that the Plan wasn't real, you know? With all that set up, I kept waiting for the part where the Plan is revealed to be real, and then our hero goes on a madcap journey to beat the crazy guys to the treasure. But there wasn't any treasure, and it just ends with him waiting for the crazy guys to show up and kill him. I think I just thought it would be a different kind of book than it was. I was expecting fun historical adventure and got something much more cerebral, so I was kind of disappointed.
