supercheesegirl: (yoga)
I went out on the deck and did my full yoga routine this morning. I was out for about an hour. It was really good! My goal, as I've told Lauren and my mom, is to do the full hourlong routine three times a week (or four, if I can manage it) and to do *something* on the other days. I have an abbreviated routine in mind: a few sun salutations, the Indian wrestler pushups and squats, a set of seated postures, and some crunches, which all together should take me about half an hour or less. I would really really like to be doing the pushups and squats every single day. I got sidetracked out of my yoga last week because I was so sunburned (I didn't even want to think about my skin, let alone stretch parts of it) but now I am back on track. Woot!

We need to be excersice partners. I try to walk home rom work every day [the only think the stops me right now is 90+ heat], but I'm also trying to do *something* else as well...

Walking is the other big thing I'm missing--I'm used to walking 20 minutes to/from Harvard Square a few times a day. I'm hoping to take the dog out at least once a day; it's not a brisk walk, since he's a passionate sniffer, but at least it's something.

You and Jorn should get DDRing!

I love doing yoga.

Years ago I tried taking a class once and it went horribly! I didn't enjoy the vibe of the class and felt very crowded and frustrated. Then I tried several yoga videos loaned to me by friends and they were too difficult to get the hang of without an instructor. Then I took 2 weeks off between jobs and caught the tv program Yoga Zone and loved it! Now when I do yoga I do various Yoga Zone practices. I keep thinking about taking a class but honestly I still feel intimidated by the badness of that first class I tried even though it was a long time ago. It was such a horrible experience I actually started crying and left before the class was over. Also there's the money thing. When I have dvds with a variety of practices already at home, it's harder to justify spending the money to go to a class.

When we're at D*C, if you're open to it I'd love to go through some poses with you. I enjoy doing some stretches/yoga especially before a long day of walking and standing.

I'd like to do that too! It's very easy for me to get off-track with my yoga, so if we were doing some poses together that would give me some incentive to do it even with the funness of D*C right outside the door. :)

Well it will be funness right inside the door. Not all the fun will be going on outside our room!

I always stretch and do a few yoga poses at the airport before I get on the plane. It passes the time and helps me from getting stiff and sore on the plane. I get a few strange looks but I'm used to that!
