I'm in Greensboro! I'm at Rhett's house! Rhett is awesome! I missed Rhett.
(FYI, I could have made this post on Friday, replacing "Greensboro" and "Rhett" with "Knoxville" and "Jess & Emily", but we were busy on Friday. The sentiment was there, though.)
This road trip is super good for me. I'm getting to catch up with all these awesome people that I haven't seen in so long, and all the car time is good for reconnecting with myself and bonding with my new car, and I'm just really pleased at how the whole thing is going. (Except for the ridiculously heavy rain that fell on me most of the way from Knoxville to Greensboro, but you know, that just happens sometimes.)
The car hit 1000 miles somewhere in the middle of Virginia on 81 South, and hit 1500 miles shortly after leaving Knoxville on 40 East today. The car is not yet two weeks old.
Good cat bonding on this trip, too. I spent time in Knoxville with Sinclair, Sage, and Oz, all of whom were great, and now I get to hang out with Charm Kitty, Pita, and Chulita. The cats in this house are much smaller than the cats in Jess & Emily's house, but they are no less catly. Chulita and I had a moment earlier, where she tricked me and snuck out the front door onto the lawn and I chased her down and caught her. Good times.
I have a bunch of dreams written out in my travel journal that I plan to post backdated eventually. Lest ye thought I hadn't been dreaming.
Tomorrow: getting NYP for lunch with Rhett, going to Ed McKay's, going to Rhett's comic book shop, and getting Tex & Shirley's $2 pancakes for dinner
Thursday: wandering around Greensboro, meeting Jay and anyone else at the Old Town after workshop, going to Rhett's poetry reading
Friday: lunch with Jay and Nancy
I don't have anything else planned yet, but even if I just sit on my ass at Tate Street Coffee for all the other hours of the next few days, I'll be pleased at the state of affairs.
