I'm not sure why I always resisted reading Woolf before. It was a lovely book--such a simply plot, a woman's day, a party, the people who touch her life--but so beautifully written. And definitely a unique style, so clean and precise but at the same time overflowing with beauty without being flowery or boring at all (descriptions of scenery usually are, for me). The whole book felt very vivid to me, very real, and so much like how I personally see the world--it was really surprising, and nothing I could have written myself, but like what goes on in my head at my best moments. I'm hoping to read a lot more Woolf. She's something good and big to aspire to.
