first of all, in case I didn't mention it before, I got the assistantship for the summer session. I'll be working with bob langenfeld on editing the academic journal ELT: English Literature in Transition. (and really, go look at the bob langenfeld link, because he's really the cutest little man. he's an awesome guy). so I'm psyched about that. it's $1000 for the month of june, which is more than I'm making now ($700/month at my current assistantship). don't know how I'll pay my rent for may, since I don't get paid in may, but I'll figure it out eventually.
secondly, as you all know, I have job #1 and job #2. I also have volunteer thing #1, which is my tour-giving thing for the blandwood mansion. well, it looks as if volunteer thing #1might morph into job #3!! this is what I had originally wanted when I applied to be a tour guide at blandwood, because their weekend tour guides get paid (because they have responsibility and get a key and stuff) while the weekday people are just volunteers (because there's office staff and other people around during the week). so when I started at blandwood, I applied for the weekend job but they hired someone with more "museum experience", and I just took the volunteer thing in the hopes that it might someday turn into a paid position. and so the current director quit, and one of the weekend tour guides moved into her job, and so his job is open, and he wanted to know if I was interested in doing it. and I am. yay.
the third thing is this. remember my big-ass bitch about the scheduling at job #2? and how I was so pissed off at my manager dan for being a schedule asshole? well, I take it back. dan did a really nice thing for me today. he had me on the schedule for a bunch of hours this week, since it's spring break for the school district and a bunch of our teachers are away on vacation. and he knew that I didn't want a lot of hours this week, because of all my school stuff, but there really wasn't too much he could do about it. so today, I go straight from job #1 to job #2 (I got off job #1 at 4pm and had to be at job #2 by 4:30pm). but when I get there, dan is like, didn't you get my message? it turns out he had called to say he didn't need me till later. but I didn't get the message and I came in when I was originally scheduled, which actually turned out to be good because dan then said that we weren't busy at all and a bunch of kids were going to be absent and he didn't need me after all. and I said, really? hooray!
so now I'm typing this, waiting for sanch to come home so we can GO RETURN MY THRICE-DAMNED SHITTY STEREO!!
