So, in the pictures we are having a great time. Because we were drunk. But here's what we really thought of the party. We still had a good time and all, but we all felt like we got ripped off and none of us will ever go to a thing like this again.
Dear NYEPhilly,
I just wanted to lodge a complaint about the 12 Midnight party at the Crystal Tea Room. I attended the party with four friends, and we were all very disappointed.
There was nowhere to sit because early arrivers snagged all the tables, so we had to spend the whole night standing up. Even having chairs along the walls would have been better.
There was not nearly enough food, there were lines to get the food, there was nowhere to sit while eating, and the pizza/chicken station closed around 11pm. We had thought food would be available all through the party.
Finally, the "open bar" was a joke. The lines to get a mixed drink or martini were so long that we had to wait fifteen minutes every time we wanted a drink. We hardly got to dance because we spent the whole night waiting in line for drinks. I counted less than 20 bartenders, for over 1000 people. And the bars weren't stocked particularly well, either--all the martini bars ran out of Apple Pucker almost right away, even though appletinis were on the menu. I also noticed that I couldn't get a chocolate martini--with hundreds of women at the event, you weren't serving chocolate martinis?
Your website said, specifically, "If you are looking for a great New Years Eve party that is not too crowded, with no long lines, plenty easy-access bars, and a great crowd, look no further. Seating will be provided so you can relax a bit and people-watch." We found exactly the opposite at 12 Midnight. I think this is a case of false advertising. I never would have thought that we would have to wait in long lines for drinks, or that I wouldn't be able to get whatever kind of drink I wanted. I was incredibly disappointed by the event, and so were my friends. None of us are ever going to attend another one of these parties, and we'll tell everyone we know what we thought of 12 Midnight.
Sincerely,
