Today's Scrabble was Not Good for me. It started out fine: I began the game with NICE, followed up with BLAZE, for some respectable but not spectacular points. Then I managed some short combos: WAD/WE and PRY/BY, for 20 and 23 points respectfully. Then things went downhill. After PRY/BY, I found myself looking at NAEIOUY. AEIOU and sometimes Y! Every freakin' vowel! Even with that, I did okay, putting PONY on a triple-word for 27 points. Then I had nothing but vowels for the next three turns. I managed EEL, BO/OK, and WADI, for 6, 10, and 8 points. I pulled a T on my next pick, allowing for ATE/EM for 9 points, but it was all over for me. In five or six turns, I had a total of two consonants. Kari got all the good consonants I didn't get, and she won with a score in the 250s. Tariq acquitted himself admirably with a 170-something, and I somehow finished with a 143. Sigh. No amount of Scrabble skill can overcome several turns' worth of AIIIEEO. Seriously.
