I really would have chosen that I hate asparagus, but come on. Monkeys! I barely had a choice in the matter.

So far no one hates asparagus but you. You should be glad you clicked monkeys instead, because otherwise you'd be in a lonely little club all by yourself. :)

It's not that I hate asparagus, it's that it hates me. Foods that induce my gag reflex are foods I will opt not to eat. It's a simple 1-2 step process, really.

As a general rule however, I will always choose Monkeys. I've been toying with the idea of getting a sloth tattoo recently! Two-toed sloths are almost cuter than pokémon!

Clearly, this vote is unjust. How can we choose "I hate asparagus" when we can choose "Monkeys"??? How, I ask you!?!!?! HOW!!???!

Wow, an overwhelming response in favor of asparagus! I'm glad we're all in agreement, and now I know what to cook when y'all come over!

Asparagus is not monkeys, I neither love it nor hate it, and I know it is green.

Clearly you need more options. Although I never said that asparagus was monkeys; you're interpreting that meaning yourself. But thank you for the extra info.

Yes, options are good, I love options. Also, I just posted a monkey.

I like to blanche them and then saute them with lemon juice, a little butter and freshly ground black pepper.

SO YUMMY!

I have steamed them, cooked them on the stovetop in a pan with olive oil and garlic butter, and also baked them (with salmon, all drizzled with a honey mustard sauce). What does blanching involve?

blanching is like steaming... it's a quick boil so that it's cooked but not completely mushy. It's a good way to sort of prep veggies so you can keep them in the fridge and just heat them up really fast for a meal.

Damn. Had I known there was so much pro-asparagus sentiment, I would have voted for Monkeys.

You can always change your vote if you need to. Clearly this is a weighty issue.

But doesn't an after-the-fact change undermine the Dada impulse?

(This is not a Livejournal response.)

Bertucci's makes an excellent (but simple) asparagus side dish. I only mention this because clearly, this is where people who may actually want this information hang out!!

I thought I was the only one! yay for polls!
