I finally talked my friend Xina into signing up for livejournal! She's robotpistol. And she's awesome.

I'm so dishing out the LJ-crack to my Greensboro friends. Next I have to get Rhett to start up again, and then I think my next target is Emily. But we'll all keep in touch so much better when everyone has a journal!! It's true! I really just want to hear from all y'all more often.

In other news, I got a postcard from Leilani today. Apparently as of March 6, she was Indonesia, collecting ants for her thesis. I'm not sure what kind of thesis it is--masters? Or did she finish that and it's a doctorate? Or do they even have the same degrees in German universities?--but she's sure collecting ants for it. I was excited to get the postcard. Indonesian stamps are really cool. And I hadn't heard from her in a while, so it's good to know she's still getting my emails. She had my new address, too. I kind of wish I was in Indonesia. I'd collect ants if someone would send me there.

Collecting ants has to be the most random grad school thing I have ever heard!

Well, her undergrad senior project involved wolf spiders.

(I remember this in extreme detail because I borrowed one in a jar in order to terrify one of the ladies who worked in Selinsgrove Hall in the Treasurer's Office. It was a high point of my undergraduate career!)

Also she's probably going to test the ants or observe their mating habits or something. Not just collect them. It was mating habits with the wolf spiders. Sorry, got distracted by the fond memories for a second there.
