This book was great! I so wish I had discovered it as a kid. I loved the movie, but I don't think I even knew there was a book. It was definitely the kind of kids book that is still good later on. I wish there were more of it.
Oh yay! What a fantastic book. So dark. I recently re-watched the movie...I like that too....but the writen story is even more twisted. The Last Unicorn is a good book too...a self-aware dark fairy tale with rules. It is more apparent in the book than in the movie (which I love).
I read The Last Unicorn for the first time a few years ago (after loving the movie forever, of course) and I really loved it. The whole idea of the story having rules and the characters knowing that was really cool, I thought.
We were talking about The Dark Crystal and then I started talking about the Rats of NIMH and you mentioned the book (which I honestly had no idea about).
Um, yes! And you told me you loved The Dark Crystal and then you went on about The Last Unicorn (which I've never seen). Unless this was all one of those dream conversations I sometimes I have in my sleep. Which is possible too I suppose.
