supercheesegirl: (scary monster!)
i really liked this one (except, of course, for the eight million pop-ups that accompany it), but anyway, thanks, [livejournal.com profile] sarahpender!

I'm terza rima, and I talk and smile.
Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away
I let mine out, and chatter all the while.

I'm rarely on my own - a wasted day
Is any day that's spent without a friend,
With nothing much to do or hear or say.

I like to be with people, and depend
On company for being entertained;
Which seems a good solution, in the end.
What Poetry Form Are You?

I am, of course, none other than blank verse.
I don't know where I'm going, yes, quite right;
And when I get there (if I ever do)
I might not recognise it. So? Your point?
Why should I have a destination set?
I'm relatively happy as I am,
And wouldn't want to be forever aimed
Towards some future path or special goal.
It's not to do with laziness, as such.
It's just that on the whole I'd rather not
Be bothered - so I drift contentedly;
An underrated way of life, I find.
What Poetry Form Are You?

so there's seventeen different poetic forms you could get as an answer. does anyone else find it odd that 1) i could pretty easily define the rules for writing thirteen of the forms mentioned, or 2) that i've never even heard of the other four?

Maybe they made up the other four. To test you.

well... the ones i didn't know were Rubai, Lai, Descort, and Cywydd Llosgyrnog. and since my earlier post, i've realized that clearly the Rubai is the form used by the poet who wrote the Rubaiyat (rhymed AAXA quatrains), and i've seen this form before, just not by that name. also, upon first glance Lai looked like it would turn out to be something arabic maybe, but when i looked at it i could see it was french (pronounced "Lay"), as in the Lais of Marie de France in the middle ages. so really, there were only two i had no clue about, and i'm not blaming myself for having no clue about the Cywydd Llosgyrnog. i'm betting it's real.

the ones i didn't know were Rubai (which, though i wasn't familiar with this specific term, i figured must be related to the Rubaiyat--now, looking at it, i can see it rhymes AAXA, which i know i've seen before but probably under some other name), Lai (which upon first looking at it looked like something middle eastern but now i see that *obviously* it's french, as in the lais of marie de france, duh), Descort (no clue), and a Cywydd Llosgyrnog (no clue AT ALL).

i was also a little shaky on what exactly Cinquain, Triolet, and Clerihew were, but i had a pretty good idea since i *have* studied them before, and i remembered once i saw them.

blank verse and triolet sound right for you... i like triolet, actually.

"except, of course, for the eight million pop-ups"

mozilla. Complete pop-up blocking. I never even saw them.
