okay, so pretty much the next six months are planned out for me, doesn't that suck? here's what's in the calendar:
friday february 14: my thesis reading. my family and friends will be visiting all weekend.
thursday february 20: jorn's and my three-year anniversary (yay!)
weekend of february 21: there's a thesis reading, and i would like to stay in greensboro and recuperate from the busyness of having my family visit.
february 26-march 1: the AWP conference in baltimore. i still don't know for sure if i'm going, but david and carl offered me a spot in their hotel room, and it's not too expensive, and i'd really like to go...
march 5-7: natasha trethewey, a poet, is visiting the program, and i'm psyched about her reading
friday march 7: the mc paul barman show!
march 8-16: my spring break. i might be going to myrtle beach with rhett. that would be really awesome. i can't pass up a beach visit.
weekend of march 21: a reading on friday night, and i'm working blandwood on saturday/sunday.
(three open weekends)
weekend of april 18: easter weekend. my high school class reunion might be happening in PA, and i'd like to go... but...
monday april 21: final draft of my thesis due for formatting
monday may 5: two copies of my final final thesis are due. i am basically done with school on this day
friday may 16: graduation (unless it's another day that weekend; it was on a sunday last year, i thought)
things as yet unplanned:
--a visit to atlanta to see danielle (hi danielle!)
--a visit to jess and emily
(both of the above visits occurring sometime this spring, before jorn and i move away and aren't southerners anymore. but that's a lot of travelling--baltimore, myrtle beach, tennessee, atlanta--and i need to make sure i have enough time to concentrate on my thesis)
--speaking of moving, we'll have to go on some sort of apartment-hunting trip to boston in may/june
--my mom might need foot surgery. if she does, and it does require her to stay in bed for three weeks, i want to be there to help her.
--before the foot surgery ish popped up, my parents and i had planned on taking a trip to england and ireland for two weeks this summer. it's their 25th wedding anniversary, so they wanted to do something really special. my mom doesn't want to give up the trip, and i'm really excited about it. but we'll see what happens with that.
(the above two items amount to a potential five weeks that i'll be away from home, whether home is greensboro or boston or in between)
--august 2: amy and josh's wedding in rochester, ny. have to remember to take that into account.
so much stuff to think about! and i want my summer in boston, i really do. although there can be other summers in boston. but i really, really don't want to move to boston just in time for next winter, that would suck goat cock. it would make me so sad. my mom is going to foot doctors on february 20 and 24, so we'll see what happens for her... can't plan or worry about anything until we know for sure.
