I've been seeing these Artemis Fowl books around for a while, and they seem pretty popular so I thought I'd check it out since the library had it. Artemis is a 12-year-old criminal mastermind (a BOY, though, which is just silly because Artemis is a girl's name) who in this book decides to kidnap a fairy and hold her for ransom. I liked how the fairy world was described. This was light-hearted and funny; definitely the kind of YA book that's aimed specifically at YAs (at one point an enemy is defeated with dwarf flatulence), but it doesn't suffer any for that. I might consider reading more in the series (since the library has those too).
