Yesterday's Scrabble was awesome. I played with Jean and Kristina and Kari--no Tariq this week, and this might be Kari's last game for a while because she's ready to pop out a kid any second. I played pretty well: all my words scored in the 10-18 point range. I did luck out on one word, though. I played QUAIS (the plural of QUAI, which is an alternate spelling of QUAY) with the Q on a double letter and the word on a double word, and I landed the S at the bottom of DRINK so I got points for DRINKS too, for a total of 59 points. That one rocked. It also allowed Kristina to play QUIZ and land the Z on the triple-word block, so she snagged 66 points and won the game. I finished with 140; Kari had 151 I think, and Kristina had 153 maybe. They were pretty close. Kari didn't have any mega-words like Kristina and I did, but she always plays consistently very well, with most of her words scoring 20s and 30s. Jean brought up the rear with a very respectable 54.
We've been playing Scrabble outside lately. It's nice. Last week's game was fun, but I forgot to post about it--I played with Tariq and Jean and Kristina, and J and K played on a team. I like playing outside.
