According to my Snapple cap, Americans spend $630 MILLION per year... on golf balls. GOLF BALLS. I'm proud to say that I do not contribute to this total, except for maybe once when I couldn't think of anything else to get my dad for Father's Day. But really, America, $630 million on golf balls? Don't we have anything better to spend our collective funds on? Even if we're not giving our $630 million to starving children, we could at least be spending it on something less ridiculous.

The list of stupid stuff I spend $210 (or more) on per year is way too long for comfort . . .

Not that I expect any sports elimination to occur. It's just a mind boggling thing to imagine.

In truth, while I know little about golf, I would guess that gold balls don't last all that long, given that their purpose is to be hit really hard by metal sticks. (I also suspect golf players replace them even earlier than necessary, out of the belief that a new ball will fly further, but, meh.)
