Redbook retouches Faith Hill

She looks so pretty and real in the original photo! Seeing *that* woman on the cover would make me much more likely to buy the magazine. WTF.

I can understand wrinkles or blotchiness or things like that (I edit photos of me for blemishes after all), but what's the point in making her arms look half their original size? It's crazy what they did to her, she looks anorexic in the after shot.

HOLY CRAP!!! What a difference! I don't feel so bad about my body after seeing how fake the cover actually was!! I had no idea they were changed that dramatically!

Yeah, this one is a great example, but most of them get significant retouching--not just wrinkles and zits. I can't believe what they did to Faith for that cover--when she looked lovely and fresh and healthy in the original!

Look at this site: http://iwanexstudio.com and click on Porfolios. If you click on a face, you'll see the "after" and then scroll over it for the "before." It gives more of a sense of what level of retouching is done to some celebrity photographs. (Apparently freckles are forbidden, among other things.)

Oh my goodness. Apparently freckles are a serious no-no. He even made that one girl's nose more symmetrical! (second row, last picture)

On the other hand, Halle Berry and Penelope Cruise really are that beautiful.

I wouldn't mind having the circles under my eyes erased from my pictures, but her handless arms really freak me out. And she and her husband are so cute.
