Now I've read all four of Lisa Carey's novels. In the Country of the Young is still my favorite, but this one comes in second--both of them are about Ireland and have a lot of Irish stuff in them, and she writes the accent beautifully. She also writes dysfunctional but loving families really well.

So I wandered over to take a look around, and oddly enough, I have read this book. Years ago, mind you, but I did. Good but dysfunctional indeed. Haven't read any of her others, just that one.

Hi! Yeah, I found In the Country of the Young on the dollar rack at Harvard Book Store and totally fell in love with it and wanted to track down Lisa Carey's other novels. Lots of dysfunctional, but also lots of ending up in a good place. I like her stuff a lot.
