I won today's Scrabble through one very lucky move and not much else.
On my first letter pick, I had something like JOOUAAE, and I was supposed to go first. I passed and repicked some letters instead. I got JOUEEEA or something, so I tossed back again on my next turn and repicked. So I started out two turns behind everyone else, first of all.
My words:
15 points - JOUK (it means, to dodge)
14 points - SIS/OAKS
18 points - VIBE
16 points - TOWEL
46 points - ZERO (the Z on a double-letter and the word on a double-word)
18 points - PAWN
11 points - QI
minus 1 for an leftover letter after Karen went out first, and I ended with 137 points. That ZERO bumped me ahead of my two missed turns and into the lead. Jean finished next with a 133, then Karen with a 124, and finally Kristina with a 110 (although she professed to be playing just to get the hell away from her desk).
Tariq has been out all week. Karen thinks he's on vacation. He better not've quit. Lou and Kari didn't play today because they were busy with work, and I guess Christine too (Jean talked to her, though, not me). But small-group Scrabble is just as if not more fun than big group Scrabble.
