supercheesegirl: (books - Matisse reading lady)
Went hunting for some new icons today and found this one. I absolutely love it. It's from 'Reading Woman with Parasol' (1921) by Matisse, which currently lives at the Tate Gallery. If anyone would like to make me very happy, a print of that painting would totally do it.

While looking up that painting, I was pleased to discover that I really, really like a lot of Matisse's work. What a nice thing to discover today!

I also discovered that this picture, which I bought at Homegoods for like $12 and which is currently hanging in my bedroom, is 'Romeo and Juliet' by Thierry Ona. This is something of a relief to me, because I had been concerned that that little flag in the background meant it had something to do with golf. I'd much rather have Romeo and Juliet on my wall. (He also paints ants with parasols in similar style/colors, which popped up in my woman/parasol search on allposters, which is how I discovered this.)

Oh, totally! Take a look at his other stuff, though, too, you might like something else better. Allposters.com has a bunch of his prints.

Ooh, I'd hang up his Moonlight III. They're holding hands all cute.
