I've been meaning to polish my black stompy boots for a while now, and I finally got around to doing it tonight. I still had the polish from when I bought them, which I realize must have been probably 2004? Fall of 2005 at the latest. I feel pretty sure that I wore these boots to Manray, and that would have been 2004. Anyway, I hadn't polished or waterproofed them since I bought them, and there was some serious dust under the laces. Yuck. I polished them up pretty good, and I made a pretty big mess--I had to spread out grocery bags under the boots themselves, and I got polish all over my hands and also on my pants. It took probably half an hour, and my hands got all cramped up from squeezing the bottle.

Conclusion: I am not a big fan of boot-blacking. In fact I would say that I do not like it very much!

Anyway, I'll probably do the waterproofing sometime this weekend, and then my boots will be all shiny and ready for another winter of stomping.

Eww...with you on the shoe polish. I usually only get a polish if I happen to run into the shoe polish dude on the street in downtown Denver. But since I don't live there anymore, I imagine I am doomed to have dull shoes from now on.

*stomps off*

Well, these boots come up past my mid-calf, and they both zip and lace. So I actually pulled out all the laces and unzipped them and polished every part of the leather, something I wouldn't have been able to do with a shoe polish dude on the street. So that's why it took so long. But I think it was definitely a good idea!

Good point. I have stompy boots similar to yours that have never been shined up. My boots are envious of your boots. :)

I love polishing shoes. I don't know why that is. When I was little we had a cool shoe polish kit in this box that had an uneven top so you could put the shoes on the box and buff away....

But I still think it's a fun thing to do.

I also live to get dirty though.

That does sound like fun! I wish my boots had been more fun like that!

I just do not understand how one could not love bootblacking?!?

I think I just had too much boot to black. If I was just doing it for fun, that'd be different!
