apartment = clean

You know, maybe if I cleaned my apartment more often, it wouldn't take me 3+ hours to do it, and it wouldn't be completely exhausting. But every time I do clean, it takes forever and wipes me out. My vaccuum's not working right but at least I did all the corners and edges of the rooms with the hose. I vaccuumed, dry-swiffered, then wet-swiffered all the floors in the apartment. The spray nozzle broke off of my bathroom cleaner so I had to squirt it by squeezing the bottle and splashing it around. Bathroom is now scrubbed. Bedroom is tidy for the first time in ages. I even cleaned under the bed (well, a little) and vaccuum-hosed the horrific cobwebs outside my front door. And I'm pretty zonked, but I feel kind of fulfilled. And relieved. It's almost worth all the work for how nice it feels to get it over with. Still, I think it would be really beneficial for me to dry-swiffer the apartment once a week, just for maintenance.

This afternoon:
- shower; shave all pertinent areas
- remove toenail polish and give self pedicure
- dry hair and make self pretty and fragrant (although I suppose "fragrant" could describe my current condition)
- take backpack and smelly tote bag to the cleaners, to see if they can get the various odors out
- stop at the artsy knicknack store, see if I can get a Scrabble mug for a going-away present for Tariq
- get nails done somewhere in my neighborhood

It's already 1 p.m. and the bathroom's still all wet. I also have to put everything away that's up on the bed, table, or couch that usually lives on the floor, and put everything back into the bathroom. That might happen tonight unless I end up tripping over stuff. All the local stores close at 5 or 6, so I don't have a ton of time here. I started cleaning at 10 a.m. And I'm just now realizing I should have had a pee before I cleaned the toilet. The seat's still all wet. Looks I get to wait a while for that too.

But F will be here tonight!!!

A guy I went to school with had a 15 minute rule when it came to cleaning. He and his kids cleaned for at least 15 minutes everynight before dinner. I guess with three of them they accomplished a lot over a week... I've found that little chunks here and there do add up....

Oooh exciting! I mean the visit, not the cleaning. ;) Although good job on that! That's more than I ever do. I suck at the whole cleaning thing.
