got a message on my answering machine--tara at huntington says my availability doesn't meet their schedule needs. so no job with annoying kids. maybe i'm relieved. but it was weird--i had told her i was available at 4pm for the next two weeks, and then i would be available at like 5:30-6 since i was going to be getting a temp job for the summer, plus saturdays all day. and when she called back, she said, "but we'll let you know if we need someone for that 5:30 to 6 timeslot." did she think i was saying i was available only for half an hour? she can't have thought that. i was saying i was available from around 5:30-6ish until whenever they close. i'm not going to call back and say that, though, in case she knew what i meant and i look like an idiot.

i called a temp agency about a job ad in the paper--data entry, evenings 6-11, or full-time 6-3am if i want that. i don't. i don't know if the 6-11 is supposed to be every night (gross) or just a few nights a week (what i'd want), but it's $10-12/hr and whatever, i'm going to put in my resume for any other jobs they've got as well. i'm also going to email my resume to the kelly services office down here so i can get registered with them again (i was with kelly for summer and winter breaks all through college, and it was great). trc, the temp agency that jorn works for and which i've used in the past, doesn't seem entirely reliable, and i need work too badly this summer to rely only on them.

yesterday in the shower i slipped while shaving and stabbed myself in the fingernail with the razor. not just slicing through the tip of the fingernail like i've sometimes done before; oh no, i sliced through the *center* of my third finger's nail. not all the way across from side to side, just a sort of moon-shape in the middle of the nail. just thinking about how that felt is skeeving me out. equally skeeve-worthy is the sight of blood coming out of the middle of your fingernail. it stopped bleeding quickly, though, and there's not even a little bloodclot under the nail or something. it looks healthy except for the scrape, which you wouldn't even notice unless you were looking. but it's still going to take a good two weeks or so before it grows out to a point where i can cut off the nail and get rid of it. yucky. i wonder if painting my nails would be helpful or harmful? on one hand, the basecoat might seal the cut for me and help it heal; on the other, nail polish chemicals might get under my nail and infect it, perhaps killing me. what do you think?
I think that regardless of what you do at this point, you're going to end up with a lethal infection so incredibly unique, that the doctors that examine your corpse will find an entirely new strand of razor-induced nail infections, and it will be forever known as "Roxanne's yucky nail 'cause she cut herself shaving virus", commonly known as "RYNCSCHSV". It will most likely be eventually shortened to "Homsar syndrome".

And at your funeral, after Snorlax's eulogy, the Police will get up and sing THE BEST SONG, EVUH!!!!. And as they are, I'll do a little jig on your casket. Nothing fancy, just your average gleeful-at-the-prospect-of-someone-dying jig.
