Okay, I am seriously displeased. So the Sun flashes were flash-forwards, and the Jin flashes were flash-backs? Argh. I am not happy to know that Jin's going to die. He's a good man, and he and Sun are so happy together. It's not like Joss Whedon's writing this show or anything. Is Jin the new Charlie now, his sudden but inevitable death lurking in every episode?

Yeah, and we totally knew Michael was the spy. But WTF on the chick who drowned herself with chains, yo. Weird.

9/22/04

I didn't see that. What date is it on the show now, anyway? Desmond called Penny on Christmas Eve, was that 2003 or 2004?

The way Sun was acting, he was definitely dead. She wouldn't cry like that for him if they were just estranged, I don't think.

Wait, was 9/22/04 the date of the plane crash?? OK, then, you have a case for thinking he might still be alive on the island. I am still suspicious.

What the hell is all this Lost business about? I don't know a DAMN thing about the show, except that it's a cult phenomenon and that the people who watch it are ADDICTED to it heroin-style. I think I caught one episode like a few months ago and it made absolutely no sense to me. It's obviously incredibly wrapped up in itself and something you have to watch from the beginning.

Is this something that I even should enquire about? Is this something that I will derive pleasure from knowing about, or will it only bring me suffering and misery? If the latter is true, let me down gently without telling me anything else.

Or perhaps if it's so gut-wrenchingly twisted and confusing, I should wait until it's cancelled/over and watch it all in a large block of time?

By the by, using the word 'on' after WTF is hilarious. Also, I'm drunk! Also, you're awesome. Seriously.

It's a decent show. It's addictive, but I'm kind of over it. I watch it now just because I've invested so much time in it, and also so I can talk to my mother because SHE'S an addict. Actually, last night I almost skipped it and played nintendo instead.

It will not make any sense at all unless you catch it from the beginning (or watch several episodes in a row until it starts to cohere, but I think it'd be less work to just watch the whole thing unfold).

I know you can netflix the first 2 seasons, maybe the 3rd season too. It would probably be significantly less frustrating to watch it all at once.

Your brother watched the first two seasons with me. He was mostly frustrated because everything took so long to get answered. DVDs would alleviate that problem.

You could wait till it's all over to start watching it, but that's another few years away. If you want to try it out, netflix the first few discs and see what you think.

Part of the allure of the show is that it's a big mystery. Who are the Others, what's in the Hatch, what the hell is going on on this Island? But if you're not intrigued by mysterious stuff, you might not care to watch. People who enjoy constructing complex conspiracy theories based on very little evidence enjoy this show immensely.

The other thing about this show is that the Island is populated by incredibly attractive people. There are at least four male characters who I enjoy seeing shirtless, and who often indulge me. This is a large part of why I keep watching: does the preview for next week's episode show Desmond, and is he wearing a shirt? OK, then, need to watch next week. I recommend the show for the hotness. There are more hot male characters than hot female characters, but even still. There was once a hot girl-on-girl catfight in the pouring rain that I remember very fondly. It's worth watching up to the third season for that alone.

The freighter captain is pretty hot, too. I think the show is about to reach Hotness Overload.

I'll be very sad if Jin is dead. I spent most of last night thinking what a cute couple they were--even when they weren't speaking to each other. I'm very confused about the Oceanic 6 versus Survivors not Mentioned. If they aren't part of the official post-island story, are they dead or are they just still on the island? Cuz that's a lot of people to kill off.

Oh, here's the basic plot:

A plane bound from Australia to LA gets diverted off-course and crashes on an island. A bunch of people survive the crash. At first, they're just trying to stay alive and find water and stuff, but then they start having encounters with another group of people on the island, and other odd things start occurring. It's a very strange island, and each of our survivors has secrets in their past that connect them in strange ways. The show basically follows our heroes as they try to figure out what the heck is going on and, ultimately, try to get rescued.
