Good YA fiction from the library. Phineas and his sister Althea live with their dad, a college professor who has just been given the care of the new Egyptian collection at his college. Then the collection's mummy is stolen, and Phineas and Althea have to figure out who did it before the same person comes after them. Really solid book, and with a mummy in it, and discussion of Sappho's poems. I wish I'd read this when it first came out in 1991, because I would've loved it, and it would have done me good to know about both Sappho and Roman-era mummy portraits back then (considering that when I discovered them much later, I absolutely loved them--Sappho and mummy portraits both). I think Cynthia Voigt is kind of underrated, honestly, I've really liked everything of hers I ever read. Although maybe she's just underrated by me and I should pay more attention.
Anyway, the best part about finishing this book on my lunch break is that now I don't have to take it with me to Vegas! I can leave it here at work and then take it back to the library on Monday!
