This was really terrific. Really well done YA fiction: an excellent and complex story, with really well-realized characters.
Elana is the daughter of an extremely advanced interstellar civilization, on a mission to help a medieval planet without letting the inhabitants know of her alien powers. Jaryl is a medical officer of the Imperial Exploration Corps, assigned to colonize that resource-rich planet, no matter who currently inhabits it. And Georyn is a woodcutter's son who sets off to defeat the terrible dragon on the other side of the haunted forest and meets a beautiful enchantress on his way...
I whipped through it in less than four hours. I had to skip dinner. Very highly recommended.
