A really sad and lovely novel. Rhonda, a recent college graduate, witnesses something so surreal while waiting at a gas station that at first she can't believe it, and she watches as someone dressed in a rabbit costume kidnaps a young girl. Afterwards, Rhonda feels terrible for not taking any action and so takes part in the search for the girl, but the more information she finds out, the closer she gets to the truth about another missing girl: her childhood best friend, Lizzy. I knew way early what Lizzy's dad must have been doing, so that didn't come as much of a surprise. What was surprising was what exactly happened to Lizzy's dad and where he was found, as well as the revelation about Rhonda's mom. This was a seriously messed up family, and even at the end of the book, they still have too many secrets to keep, but at least Rhonda and Lizzy both can move on and start to rebuild their lives.
This was a good book. Worth reading.
