Wow. Some really damned annoying songs came out in 1997. That's impressive. And a lot of these I've never even heard of. But they're probably annoying too.

Wow, 1997 was a crazy year. I used to creep people out with that Barbie Girl song.... somehow I was able to sound just like the song, and I kept scaring the crap out of my friends when I'd threaten to sing it when we'd go out for karaoke.... (of course, this wasn't 1997, but slightly later when I was actually old enough to get into a bar... so 99? When the song should have already been dead and buried...)

oh, and I was just about to do this meme on my own page, but the first song on the list for 1996 was Macarena, so I think I'm going to go drown myself in the pond outside instead.
I just read through the whole list, and #98 is ALSO Macarena.

FOR SHAME, 1996, FOR SHAME.

weird, 72 is totally an album, not a single!

There's a lot of songs on that list that I am quite confident you'd know if you heard them. And they're all awful.

"Quit Playing Games" was one of the warm-up songs on our kickboxing routine at the dojo, so whenever I hear it I have this nearly-unquenchable urge to step back and forth punching in the air.

"Tubthumping" is one of my guilty pleasures. I mean, soccer chants married to Trumpet Voluntary - at least it had the virtue of never having been tried before.

"Your Woman" is a song I never heard on the radio (imagine that) but there's a fantastic and bitter Highlander music video to it (Methos/Duncan, Methos/Kronos, except Methos is rejecting both).

I d/loaded the list for the year I graduated and I might do this one. I think eight of the first ten songs are disco (shudder).
